Why I Don’t Have Sales or Offer Discounts

Black Friday. Cyber Monday. Memorial Day. New Year’s Day. The second Tuesday in October.

These are just a few of the most popular huge-sale-days of the year (though I made the last one up). And the guides and workout programs offered at Lift Like a Girl are never part of any of them, or others.

In fact, I haven’t had a sale (other than the initial release of a new workout/ebook, which we’ll get to in a moment) or discount on anything available in the store in several years, and I have no intention of doing so in the future either.

No sales. No discounts.

Many have asked why, and some have emailed asking when the Train to be Awesome Guide or other program will be on sale, because they want to buy it then. My response is always the same: the only time workout programs or guides are available for a special sale price is when they’re first released. After that, I don’t do sales or discounts.

“But, Nia, discounts are also good for you. You’re missing out on making money!” Yes, I’m well aware that not having sales or offering occasional discounts is costing me money. But I’m fine with that. I don’t want to bombard you with emails announcing a super special sale come every holiday or, worse yet, being just another one of the hundred emails stuffing your inbox you receive around the major holiday season.

So, why don’t I have sales or offer discounts?

There are a few reasons.

When a new workout or guide is released it’s available for a one-time-only discount for about a week. This way you can get something for a steep discount, but only during this time. (Note: things are a bit different with Workouts of the Month, as you’ll see below.)

Many workouts are released on a you-choose-the-price basis. You can pay as little as $1 or as much as you want. This will be the case with some future Workouts of the Month and perhaps other ebooks as well. I enjoy this you-choose-the-price option because it makes me feel like I have to prove my worth to you, and I like that extra motivation.

I would feel terrible if someone purchased a guide today only to have it go on sale tomorrow. I feel like it’s fair to everyone if the price is the same today, tomorrow, and come Black Friday. I consider it a huge privilege that many readers of this website respond to the newsletter or contact me directly to share their thoughts, feedback, and personal stories. I value the relationship with readers (you!) of this website, and I don’t want to do anything that could jeopardize it.

And, finally, everything is already offered at a low price. For what you get in each guide or bundle, the price is incredibly reasonable. In fact, it makes me down-right giddy when I get messages saying:

I love your Deluxe Packages and the price is amazing.” -Shirley T.

Thank you for keeping your prices affordable!” -LeAnn

Thank you so much for providing awesome workouts at such an affordable price!” -Jackie F.

Thank you for making them [the guides and workouts] so affordable, it almost feels like I’m ripping you off!” -Kerry

And let’s not forget there’s a 30 day money-back satisfaction guarantee. I’m grateful to have a very low return rate and despite the fact that a few people occasionally abuse the return policy just to get something for free, I always honor the guarantee.

If you’re interested in getting a guide, workout, or ebook at the one-time-only new release sale price, I encourage you to sign up for the newsletter below as that’s where new product releases are first announced (and the only time discounts are offered). And the newsletter is the one place I did recently provide a discount code for the spring-time apparel that was available for a week, and it was offered to subscribers only.

Speaking of sales: May’s Workout of the Month will be released on Monday, and you will get to choose the price. This workout will be available for one week only, and then it’ll be gone. And I’ll also be donating 10% of each purchase to my local humane society; too many cats and dogs are euthanized every year, and we can help.
