New Year’s Eve is the blowout of the year, a last blast for the festive season. If you’re having a party, you’ll be under pressure to make sure everyone has a good time.  It turns out that even the professionals feel the stress when they are hosting a party at home.

So how do they deal with big bash on their own territory? I talked to some of the top caterers and party organisers in the country to find out their best advice for a never-to-be-forgotten New Year’s Eve party.

Before the party starts

Most importantly, says Clare Latimer, former caterer to John Major at 10 Downing Street, “Check your radio is working to ring in midnight.”  You’ll have decided where the coats are going to go and checked the bathrooms are well stocked with towels, soap, loo paper and a scented candle.
